Christopher Anderson has crafted a personal body of work exploring the complicated terrain of identity, relationships, sexual politics and notions of chance and choice in the determination of the individual. Christopher’s work is based on self portraiture to examine his relationships to those close to him. He photographs himself alone and in relation to others or places, tracking and analyzing his need for these attachments and how they define him as an individual.

When working Christopher pulls from both his and his families personal history to gain physical as well as idea based evidence. It is his goal to document and preserve the idea of a moment or a person through both found objects and assigned symbols. Creating boxes for these objects to “live in” is a way of filing and tracking information that feels abstract and fleeting. These boxes make up a tangible library of his personal history.
